St. Francis de Sales School, Guwahati, observed International Labour Day 2026 with gratitude, warmth, and heartfelt appreciation across both the Mermier Block and the SFS Block, honouring the invaluable contributions of the support staff, bus staff and school security guards, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth functioning of the institution. As 1st May was observed as a holiday in honour of International Labour Day, the celebrations were conducted on 5th May 2026 in both the blocks.
The Mermier Block observed the occasion during the morning assembly in the presence of Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Sibin V. A, staff, and students. The programme began with a prayer seeking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by a special assembly presented by the students of Class 7F on the significance of International Labour Day and the dignity of labour. Through meaningful speeches and presentations, the students highlighted the importance of respecting every form of work and appreciating the silent efforts of those who serve the institution each day with sincerity and commitment.
The gathering then moved into a heartfelt felicitation ceremony where Rev. Fr. Sibin honoured the support staff members with tokens of love and appreciation on behalf of the entire SFS family. Addressing the students, the importance of gratitude, humility, and respect towards every worker was emphasised, reminding everyone that no work is insignificant and that every contribution plays a vital role in the growth and success of the institution. The celebration created an atmosphere of unity, respect, and thankfulness among all present.
The SFS Block celebrated International Labour Day through a special programme conducted at 1:30 PM in the presence of Vice Principal Rev. Sr. Baby Rose, staff, and students. The programme commenced with a prayer service, followed by a special assembly presented by the students of Class 9E on the significance of International Labour Day and the dignity of labour. Through their thoughtful presentation, the students expressed gratitude towards the support and bus staff members whose dedication and hard work contribute immensely to the safety, discipline, and smooth functioning of the school.
This was followed by a meaningful felicitation ceremony where Rev. Sr. Baby Rose and Dr. Sangeeta Bharali Dutta presented tokens of appreciation to the support and bus staff members. Addressing the gathering, Rev. Sr. Baby Rose spoke about the dignity of labour and encouraged students to respect every form of work and the people behind it. The programme served as a reminder that every achievement is built upon the hard work, sincerity, and dedication of many individuals working together as one family.
Both celebrations concluded leaving everyone inspired to value hard work, compassion, and mutual respect. The observance of International Labour Day 2026 at SFS Guwahati beautifully reflected the institution’s commitment to fostering gratitude, dignity, inclusiveness, and respect for every member of the school community.
