About The Event
On the morning of 9th May 2025, SFS School, Guwahati witnessed a heartwarming and simultaneous celebration of International Labour Day in both the SFS Block and the Mermier Block. The event was organized to honour and express sincere gratitude to the support staff—the unsung heroes who ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the school every single day.
At exactly 07:55 A.M., the celebrations commenced in both venues, creating a shared spirit of appreciation and unity across the campus. Both programmes followed a parallel structure, beginning with a solemn prayer, inviting blessings for the well-being of the support staff and everyone present.
In the Mermier Block, the event was graced by Rev. Fr. Melvin, the Vice Principal, while the celebration in the SFS Block was led by Rev. Fr. George Thomas, the Principal. Coordinators, teachers, students, and non-teaching staff participated enthusiastically in both blocks.
Following the prayer, students shared heartfelt messages expressing deep appreciation for the dedication and silent service of the support staff. In the Mermier Block, Aatika Rahman of Class 6 F delivered a touching speech, while in the SFS Block, Minarva Baruah of Class XI Science Section B shared her thoughts with equal grace.
The spirit of celebration continued with dance performances presented by students from Class 6 (Mermier Block) and Class 7 (SFS Block). These performances served as a vibrant tribute and a visual expression of gratitude for the invaluable work done by the support staff.
A major highlight of the programme was the felicitation ceremony, held simultaneously in both blocks. In their respective venues, Rev. Fr. Melvin and Rev. Fr. George Thomas felicitated members of the support staff as a token of respect, love, and recognition. The warm gestures and smiles shared during this moment truly reflected the school’s culture of inclusivity and appreciation.
Both events featured inspiring addresses by the school leadership. Fr. Melvin and Fr. George Thomas emphasized the value of hard work, humility, and the dignity of labour in their messages, encouraging everyone to acknowledge and respect every individual’s contribution to the growth and functioning of the institution.
The dual celebration concluded on a unified note, as all present rose together in both blocks to sing the National Anthem, reaffirming a sense of pride, respect, and shared purpose.
